Start button items greyed out

The problem of menu items being greyed out when you right-click the Start button is usually caused by hiding drive letters with TweakUI. Open TweakUI and select the My Computer tab. Make sure all the drives have a check mark and restart. Windows Explorer will still only show drives that are actually there.
