The 'New' menu doesn't work
If your 'New' menu has stopped working, the easiest way solution is to download the IE4 Tweakin' Tool which can fix this with the click of a button. If, however you would prefer to fix it manually open regedit and after backing up your Registry browse to this key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\New\
and make sure the default value is:
{D969A300-E7FF-11d0-A93B-00A0C90F2719}
