Removing the Links toolbar & folder
To remove the links toolbar, you can simply right-click an area of the Internet Explorer toolbar and unselect it from the popup menu.
However, the Links folder will still appear in your Favorites menu. Whatever you do, DON'T try and delete this folder as it can cause problems (see below if you've already deleted it!). Instead, a workaround is to open your Favorites menu and right-click the Links folder. Choose Properties from the popup menu and check the tick box to make the folder hidden. Press OK and close Internet Explorer. Next time you look in your Favorites menu there should be no Links folder!
